Primary: Church School - training for New PSHE Leaders in a Church School context

This network will be held on zoom: delegates will need a working camera and microphone to be able to fully participate in this network.  

This training will give you:

  • information about the Church of England Education Office publications and guidance about teaching PHSE in church schools
  • information about the Diocese of Guildford materials for teaching PHSE in church schools  
  • an introduction to the key principles and requirements in the SIAMS schedule around PHSE 
  • an opportunity to consider issues around the delivery of PHSE that are unique to a church school context
  • opportunities to share good practice with colleagues in Church schools 

Intended Audience 
Teachers new to the role of PHSE leader in a Church of England Primary School. The course will be relevant to teachers who have previously led PHSE in a community or catholic school context.

Jane Whittington, Schools Officer RE and Christian Distinctiveness

Jane is an education consultant at Guildford Diocese Education with special responsibility for RE and Christian Distinctiveness. Jane has been a Headteacher for 13 years, and throughout most of her career an RE subject leader, implementing at least three agreed syllabuses. More recently Jane has been involved in developing creative approaches to teaching RE. She has worked with Orison and Prayer Spaces and freelances with Barnabas in Schools.
